Math curiosities

After early retirement from the Eastman Kodak Company, I became a substitute teacher. Most of my time was spent in elementary schools grades one through five, but occasionally I would take an assignment in High School. I found elementary school more enjoyable because it gave me the opportunity to work all day with the same group of children and several subject areas. When it came time for math I always tried to work some of my own ideas into the lessons. My goal was to encourage student involvement, but more importantly, to cultivate in them a healthy curiosity about their world, in the framework they could understand and relate to.
